ARTSJUNKTION

Our mandate is to support the creative community by providing accessible materials and a creative space; provide art workshops with an emphasis on repurposed materials; and to support artists through promotion of their art and through fairly paid employment opportunities.  We also work to reduce landfill waste by receiving materials from businesses, organizations and individuals for distribution to the public, and to increase environmental awareness through community engagement and programming.  We want to provide a safe and inclusive space for all community members, and to support our neighbourhood, city, and province through vibrant, reciprocal partnerships.

 

ArtsJunktion is located on Treaty One Territory and the homeland of the Metis Nation, and is committed to the work of reconciliation.

Our impact

• Pay-what-you-can community art-making events, “ArtHives" hosted monthly 

• 3 other creative reuse depots inspired by ArtsJunktion throughout Canada

• 17 years providing supplies, artistic and community development to Manitoba

• 26 local, diverse artists hired to facilitate skill-developing workshops

• 45 dedicated volunteers supporting depot operations each month

• 60-80 regular ArtHive participants.  And its growing!

• 150 Teacher Workshop participants at our geared-to-curriculum, professional development creative reuse workshops.  

• 350 organizations and schools accessing supplies from our depot

• 500 people into our depot each month including marginalized children and youth, newcomers, Indigenous artists, LGBTTQ* artists, and persons with disabilities

• 3000 kg of “waste” materials reclaimed and redistributed monthly

• 6000+ reach through social media
